I may not have a good feeling about what is coming up here shortly emergency-wise, but my cat has a pretty good handle on it.
My Darling Cat, "Harley" - as in the cartoon Batman "Harley Quinn" because she is a calico cat and has a little Harlequin face of black & white on one side and white & black on the other... Well, for the last couple of weeks she has been practicing "fire drills" where she goes to each of her three best and most well loved hang-out spots; The Window Cat Veranda, Under my wardrobe and her special hidey-hole under the bed, and then she tears out and up the stairs to the back porch.
She does three drills from each spot to make sure she can get to outside the house in the shortest imaginable time. After three drills from each spot, she relaxes and goes about her little cat routine. She's been doing the escape drills for two solid week ever day, but the intensity of the drills seems to have increased the last couple of days... Cats are smarter than people.
